Our History at Natalie House
For 12 years, Mike Moon Studio was one of the preferred photographers at this Lawrenceville venue, including back when it was called Little Gardens.
Our team has photographed 55+ weddings here. Spring weddings and fall ones. Gray overcast days with soft light on the garden paths. Quiet first looks among the willows and lively dance floors at the end of the night.
When you photograph a venue many times, you stop guessing. You know where the house looks best, where the garden paths open up and how to move a wedding party between the gardens and the porch.
That experience is what this guide is about.
What Natalie House Feels Like on a Wedding Day
A Hilltop Estate and Its Botanical Gardens
Natalie House sits on a hilltop in Lawrenceville with seven acres of botanical gardens around a Georgian-style, white-columned mansion. The estate has hosted celebrations since 1987, and the venue lists room for up to 250 guests. You may also know it as Little Gardens, its former name.
The house gives you a grand backdrop for portraits, and the gardens give you quiet, green corners just a few steps away. Brick walkways and flagstone paths connect the spaces, and a waterfall flows into a koi pond near the outdoor ceremony site.
Because the spaces are close together, you can move from getting ready to first look to ceremony without losing the feel of the day.
How the Day Usually Flows
Every wedding is different, but most of the Natalie House weddings we’ve photographed follow a similar rhythm.
Getting ready. The venue has get-ready suites. We’ve photographed gowns hanging in front of tall windows, bridesmaids in matching robes and groomsmen getting ready together.
First look. We’ve photographed first looks among the willows and ornamental grasses, and a quiet first look with the couple holding hands on either side of a doorway.
Ceremony. We’ve photographed ceremonies along the brick aisle with white chairs and string lights, under a sage green draped arch and under a floral arbor beside the garden pond.
Portraits. The white-columned house, the brick steps, the garden paths, the hedges and the green footbridge all work as backdrops.
Evening. We’ve photographed a first dance on the porch under string lights, toasts and cake cutting inside a gold ring, a dance floor full of friends, and send-offs through cheering guests or in a cloud of bubbles.
Our Favorite Photo Spots at Natalie House
The white-columned house. Wide portraits with the whole house in the frame show off the venue and your dress, and the brick steps are lovely for a quiet embrace.
The garden paths. Gravel, brick and flagstone paths lined with hedges and greenery make an easy, natural backdrop for couple portraits.
The garden pond and the footbridge. A pretty spot for a few minutes alone as a couple.
The willows and ornamental grasses. Soft and airy, and a favorite spot for a first look.
The porch and its columns. After dark, string lights make the porch a warm place for a first dance or evening portraits.
Natalie House Through the Seasons
We’ve photographed Natalie House in spring and in fall, so you can count on the gardens looking beautiful in both.
Spring brings fresh greens and soft color, and fall brings warm tones to the paths and the lawn.
If rain is in the forecast, the ballroom with its French doors and the wraparound veranda give you covered options. Ask the venue to walk you through its current rain plan.
And don’t worry about clouds. Some of our favorite Natalie House galleries were shot on overcast days, when the light on the house and in the gardens is soft and even.
Booking Mike Moon Studio at Natalie House
Natalie House now offers its own in-house photographers, and that’s a convenient option for many couples.
If you’d love to have the team that has photographed weddings here since the Little Gardens days, you can still book us directly, and there’s no fee for bringing an outside photographer. Just reach out with your date, and we’ll take it from there.
We loved our 12 years as a preferred vendor at Natalie House, and we still love photographing weddings there.
